It's pretty incredible how the writers made the humor work in an academic setting. The whole near-death experience study group is a nice context but just a bit more unrealistic than before because, unfortunately, we are not in the real world without the fantastical elements of The Good/Bad Place. It's an honestly profound engaging discussion on utilitarianism until this point.
